People sometimes ask me if I like things or if I have hobbies.
I think that I can come across as a robot or overly focused – a few people have called me a machine. In a nice way.
I like a lot of stuff really.
I read a lot, I like sci-fi and fantasy and self-help and books about meditation and religion. I go on kicks where I get really into something, learn all about it, and then move on. Right now is about Druids. I like comic books and manga too. I like the more classical writers too. Tolstoy is probably my overall favorite, but I just love books in general.
I play video games, I like open world/sandbox stuff where I can run around and do what I want. I play in little 15-20 minute bursts between working on stuff. I like anime and documentaries and TV shows. I’ve watched The Office, Parks and Rec, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and 30 Rock multiple times each, because I can have them on in the background while I work. Cowboy Bebop is one of my all time favorite things.
I’ve seen 13 Assassins at least 8 times, Valhalla Rising 6 and all the Miyazaki movies more times than I can count.
Akira Kurosawa is my favorite director of all time, Forest Whitaker is my favorite actor. Audiobooks and podcasts are my favorite things too. Tim Ferriss, Joe Rogan, and Sam Harris are my favorite podcasters. I loved the Ready Player One audiobook. The Iron Druid series is a lot of fun, Tribe by Sebastian Junger and Sapiens by Noah Yuval Harari changed how I see almost everything.
I love pro wrestling. I like going to the shows when my wife wrestles and hanging out with the people that are there. I like hiking and being outside, I like taking Max to the park. I play Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons and Pandemic with my older son, Tyler. I like spending time with my wife and watching shows together. We have a lot of projects going on, so our conversations often revolve around them, but we are all always in the living room, hanging out. I like learning about and being intentional with my eating. I would like to get back to shooting my bow in the backyard more often.
I love my job, I love working with my clients, I love teaching people to meditate and mediating with them.
I have a good life. I have all sorts of stuff I enjoy, I could keep going on for a long time.
This next week will be all about nature, because I am leaving town and heading to the mountains with my family.
Have a great day.
